Sample Excerpt: Press-Release for Business Relocation Announcement
Taylorsville, NC, March 19, 2009:
Industry-leading manufacturer, Piedmont Fiberglass, Inc. (PFI), expanded its base of operations recently with a move to a new 170,000 square foot facility, located in Taylorsville, NC.
“The move was a longtime coming,” said Doug Caudle, the company’s President. “While our business has done very well in Mooresville for more than three decades, we outgrew our facility there five years ago,” he said. “We needed to make a move to meet customer demand and improve the efficiency and safety of our operation.”
And the improvements have been impressive. PFI invested over $600,000 in converting the factory, most recently owned by Kincaid Furniture. They installed a state-of-the-art computer-controlled ventilation system to increase worker comfort and safety. They also upgraded the building’s sprinkler system, reducing potential fire-hazards.
But, perhaps the chief upgrade has been the new building itself, said Caudle. “In Mooresville, we spread our production out over four different buildings. The layout was inefficient and we also didn’t have proper storage for our inventory,” he said. “But now we’re under one roof. All our molds and products are stored inside and we have a more streamlined workflow, which has significantly increased our throughput.”
The move from Mooresville was also made to benefit new job creation in the Alexander County region. Piedmont received a building reuse grant from the NC Rural Center, which helped fund the factory’s renovation. The state grant was facilitated locally by the Alexander County Economic Development Corporation.
While hopefully improving local employment numbers, Caudle said they were equally pleased to help breathe some new life into the industrial corridor just off Highway 90. While their old home still has fond memories for them, it’s the future that has them the most excited. “We’re now proud to be part of the Taylorsville and Alexander County community,” he said.
About Piedmont Fiberglass, Inc.
Located in the beautiful Piedmont region of North Carolina, Piedmont Fiberglass (PFI) has supplied Churches in all 50 States and six foreign countries with a full line of fiberglass church steeples and baptismal pools since 1972. PFI combines “old-fashioned craftsmanship with modern composites technology.” This is more than just a slogan—it is the way they operate their business.
PFI’s tooling patterns are created and shaped by hand from wooden mock ups. Their products use high performance fiberglass, gel-coats, and adhesives. While modern application equipment is used, their craftsmen still use their hands to mold, shape, and finish each steeple or baptistery.
Founded by Phares Caudle, Piedmont Fiberglass is now operated by Douglas Caudle. PFI appreciates the opportunity to serve you and your congregation.
